King Fahad international airport


An Airport plays an important role in air transport and provides facilities for planes and helicopters to take off and landing.  An airport will always have a landing area, runway, adjacent utility building like terminals helipad , food court, area for international and national flights .
The World's Largest Airport
King Fahad international airport Dammam in Saudi Arabia is the world largest airport uptill now,  it covering an area of 78000 hectares.  Design of king Fahad international airport began in 1976 and was created by Yamsaki and associated Architect together with Aerosystems international.  The construction began in 1983 and was completed in 1999 ,when commercial operation began.
This airport has a massive 6 story passenger terminal out of which three are for passenger processing, one for arrivals,  one for departure and one for board. The passenger terminal covers an area of 3,520,000 square feet and including 66 reserved for Saudi airline and  44 for foreign airlines.  An Airport has a mosque in it.  Mosque built on the rooftop of the car parking and it's architectural designs that fuse Modern style with old Islamic styles and values.  It can accommodate 2000 worshippers and airport also has the Royal terminal that is reserved for the Royal family,  senior government officer,  foreign officer and it covers an area of 177000 square feets.
